Information on Dale Elliott:
Dale (Ba LLB) AWSSA practiced as an attorney for a decade before turning his art interest into his new profession in `1984, and Janny, who studied art at school, has managed and administered their wide art portfolio over the years, establishing their first art gallery in 1979.
They have 4 children, Lindy, Les, Mel and Jonno, all of whom have a keen interest in art in various forms.
Dale & Janny are leaders of the Painting Holiday concept in Southern Africa, and they have conducted approximately 200 courses over the past 20 years.
Dale, who has completed inexcess of 15 000 canvases to date, is an Associate of the Watercolour Society of South Africa, and his work is represented in many collections locally and overseas. He is well known for the Commissions he undertakes, and he has appeared on television a number to times on various art-related programs.
The Elliotts are also involved in promoting Dale’s artwork through a publishing arm in their business, with various portfolios of lithographic reproductions. They have recently released two Art DVD’s on Dale’s workshop and teaching techniques and two CD’s, a step by step approach to oil and watercolour painting.

Information on Mel Elliott:
Mel Elliott (B.Comm. Marketing) has been painting professionally since 2005. After furthering his studies at the University of Stellenbosch (Western Cape), and having been painting since the age of fourteen he took a trip overseas to experience the art-scene in the U.K. and Europe.
On his return, he settled in the idyllic town of Villiersdorp in the heart of the Overberg. He has joined his father and mother- Dale and Janny Elliott at their Art-Complex in this charming town as a partner in the business. Together they conduct their painting courses throughout the year which they have been pioneering for the past three decades. These three day courses cater for beginner, intermediate and advanced artists in watercolour, acrylic and oil mediums.
Mel has combined his marketing degree with his art and undertakes to supply the two Elliott Art Galleries in Knysna and Villiersdorp and among others in Franschhoek, Stellenboch, Robertson, Swellendam Bellville, and Natal. He has held various major exhibitions in Villiersdorp, Knysna, Franschhoek and Nieuwoudtville (Northern Cape).
Mel has a passion for wildlife and the outdoors which he often paints on safari. When he was fourteen he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and in 2003 he was the artist in residence at Matetsi Private Game Lodge on the banks of the Zambezi River. His most recent trip in 2007 to the Masai Mara during the ‘Great Migration’ has had a major impact on his career in this line.
He has undertaken to do work for various charities and has aided in raising funds for the Born Free Foundation, ‘Starfish’ Foundation as well as Various Round Table projects. He has painted and sold in excess of 1500 paintings to date and he tackles many commissions for clients.
Dale and Mel have an art-outreach program through which they aid and fund disadvantaged artists and they are able to assist all artists with the Elliott’s ‘Econo- Frame’ concept… Where artists can purchase affordable ‘No-Frill-Frames’ from their framing facility in Villiersdorp.
